Evaluating the efficiency of integrated restoration practices versus conventional restoration practices

Project objectives and aims

This project consists of the monitoring of various soil parameters and their response to different restoration practices in degraded natural veld. We aim to evaluate the efficiency of various integrated restoration practices and compare them to conventional practices.

To do so, we will first set up an experiment. We will then monitor various parameters including, geochemistry, soil organic carbon and microbial biomass, as well as bulk density, aggregate stability and hydraulic conductivity.

1. Initial setup and treatment
2. Monthly monitoring
3. Seasonal monitoring
4. Samples sent monthly
